Vintage UFO pendent lamp

This iconic pendant lamp is totally space-age or pop-art.
When it gets dark this lamp is truly spectacular, and is beautiful from all sides.
Made by the successful lighting company Massive in Belgium.
Imported and sold by Steinhauer Lighting in the 1970s.
Distinctive colorful ABS plastic with bubble clear acrylic inserts.

Measurements :
Diameter - 30 cm / 11.8 inch.

Original E27 Edison screw-fitting for a 40 Watt light bulb.
We recommend a 7 watt. LED bulb.

Fully cleaned and equipped with a new electrical cord. 150 cm. / 59 inch. long and a new white ceiling cap.
The original ceiling cap is included.
This lamp is in nice condition, no cracks or chips, just some scratches.

This round red version with transparent bubble pattern is one of the many combinations that have been made of this type of lamp.
But the special thing about this version is that it is completely closed, the other versions are open at the bottom.
They were made in different colours. These were then executed with different types of windows, transparent, opal, bubble and black plastic slats.

With all due respect, often wrongly attributed to Italian designer Luigi Colani. Colani was known for this type of space age design, but never worked for Massive Lighting.
There is a story going around that a Massive employee called this lamp a Colani, and more people have continued to use the name Colani.

The company was founded in 1926 by Pieter-Jozef De Jaeck. In the 1980s, Massive became the leading brand in Europe. In 2008 Philips bought the company and changed the name of the stores to Light Gallery.
